Courtroom illustration Legal proceedings
The accused admitted 17 charges at the judicial center on Friday

An individual who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to children at a summer camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.

The accused was detained after eight minors and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in July.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he refused to admit a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was kept in jail ahead of a additional proceeding on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She stated his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he operated.

Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the minors, the legal counsel explained, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".

She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "repeatedly", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the next day.

She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about the situation, justifiably.

"They chose" to examine in the individual's items."

The prosecutor stated materials including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were found, and his family member notified the police about his suspicions.

She explained the defendant continued to play the "candy game" with six youngsters that night - that Saturday - and they were all ill the next day.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she stated further.

The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the situation.

Mrs Prior stated the children were unable to walk properly due to their sickness, so the family member notified the authorities again.

She said the man then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
