Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hard courts
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, winning just one match at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of the previous year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at 21 various events.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was finished.
Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to create a third set.
He rescued four early chances in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
